Live Streams and Virtual Seminar

Dear Friends,

We hope this blog post finds you safe and well as this summer continues to fly by. In Sandbox, we are still coming down from the excitement of our first live performance in over four months. A few weeks ago, we performed for a small physically-distanced audience at PS21 up in Chatham, NY, and in case you missed it, the video still exists here on their facebook page. It truly was a breath of fresh air!

The excitement did not stop there though. Last week, we went up to the Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts to pre-record a concert that will be streamed on their website on Thursday, August 6 at 7:00pm. Among other things, this performance will feature the world premiere of Don’t Look Down by Chris Cerrone, a new work for percussion quartet and prepared piano featuring Conor Hanick. Our program also features music by Andy Akiho, Amy Beth Kirsten, David Crowell, and Juri Seo. More information and tickets are available here.

We are also currently in the middle of our fifth annual Sandbox Seminar, taking place virtually from August 2-7 with over 25 participants from across the country! We kicked off the seminar with our first live-streamed concert from our studio on Sunday, August 2nd. You can watch that archived concert right here on our YouTube channel. This concert was also the inaugural performance of a brand new virtual live-streamed concert series that we are launching right out of our studio in Brooklyn, NY. These concerts are free for anyone to watch – if you enjoy the work we’re doing and would like to contribute to it, you can donate the price of a tax-deductible ticket right here.

Support comes in all shapes and sizes. If you’ve even made it this far into our blog post, please know that we appreciate your attention and care. Feel free to say hi in the chat on Facebook or YouTube in any one of our upcoming streams and stay safe!

Ian, Jonny, Terry, and Victor
