As fall approaches, we’re excited to share a first look at our 2026–2027 season. This year brings world premieres by longtime collaborators, a new artistic residency, and performances in exciting new places. We are thrilled to be collaborating with some of the most inventive composers of the 21st century including Steve Reich at Trinity Church, Christopher Cerrone at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Andy Akiho at 92nd Street Y.We begin the season by celebrating Steve Reich at 90 with Trinity Church’s groundbreaking new music ensemble, NOVUS. This concert marks the beginning of a five-performance Steve Reich celebration at Trinity Church, and we’re especially honored to become Trinity Church’s first-ever Artists in Residence. The team at Trinity has been a dream collaborator for more than a decade, and we’re thrilled to deepen that partnership as we embark on this exciting new chapter together.

Re(new)al at Trinity Church Wall Street, 2023

Beyond our performances at Trinity Church, we’re excited to return to two of New York City’s iconic stages. On November 7, we’ll perform Andy Akiho’s Seven Pillars—a Pulitzer Prize finalist and GRAMMY®-nominated work—at the 92nd Street Y. Then, on January 27 and 28, we’ll appear at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for two performances featuring music by our dear friend and longtime collaborator Christopher Cerrone, whose work was featured on our 2025 GRAMMY-winning album, Don’t Look Down.

We’ll return to the 92nd Street Y on April 24, 2027, for the world premiere of Andy Akiho’s newest work for percussion quintet, Pentalateral, featuring Andy on steel pan. The piece will also travel to University Musical Society at the University of Michigan and Chamber Music Northwest in Portland. In addition, we’ll bring Seven Pillars to String Theory at The Hunter in Chattanooga, continuing our collaboration with Andy throughout the season.

Another highlight of the season is the world premiere of Concentric Circles, the newest concerto for percussion and orchestra by our dear friend and longtime collaborator Viet Cuong. Viet’s environmentally inspired percussion concerto Re(new)al, which we premiered with the Albany Symphony in 2018, has become one of Sandbox Percussion’s signature works. We’re delighted to reunite with the Albany Symphony for the premiere of Concentric Circles as part of its 2027 American Music Festival.This season also brings us back to a number of presenters we’ve loved performing for over the years—some we’ve seen recently, and others we’re thrilled to revisit after nearly a decade. These concerts will include appearances at The Yale Schwarzman Center, The Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C., Schubert Club at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, and UC San Diego.
