We started Sandbox Percussion in 2011 when the four of us lived in three different cities. We would get together for long weekend rehearsals every couple of weeks, and we ended up playing a single concert that year – for an audience of three! But we kept at it, and our small organization has grown and grown each year.
As we wrap up 2018, we’re very proud of what we’ve accomplished so far – this year, we played 36 concerts, worked with over 1500 students, and visited 21 cities. Check out the video below for a recap of where we’ve been and what we’ve done.
Looking forward, in 2019 we will release our debut album on the Coviello Classics label, and we will be the Ensemble-In-Residence at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. We are also excited to introduce our Sandbox Percussion Composition Institute with internationally acclaimed composer Christopher Cerrone, at the Festival Stradella in Viterbo, Italy, as well as continue the NYU Sandbox Percussion Seminar for its fourth year.
We love what we do, and we would not be able to do it without your support. Please consider making a 100% tax-deductible donation to us – your support will go directly towards the commissions, concerts, collaborations, and educational initiatives that we have planned for 2019.
Thank you so much for your support, and we hope to see you next year!
Best,
Ian, Jonny, Terry, and Victor
