New Website // October events

We are thrilled to welcome you to our new website and release our new logo! We wanted a branding that was bright and vibrant. The logo is a box with an opening on one side. It’s a Sandbox, but it isn’t closed off. Everyone is welcome in our family and community. Thank you so much to Naomi Barrettara for her work on the website and to Austin Boyer for designing the logo. Keep a lookout on our news page for blogs and updates about future projects and happenings.

We have a few additional announcements for this month. We recently released our first ever travel vlog on YouTube. You can watch it HERE. Victor filmed our trip to Tippet Rise Art Center in Montana where we performed songbirdsongs by John Luther Adams. The trip was a great time and Tippet Rise is just an incredible place. Check out the video, and drop a note in the comments if you would like to see more videos like this in the future!

Last Saturday, October 13th, we visited Albany, NY to perform the full orchestra version of Viet Cuong’s concerto Re(new)al with the Albany Symphony on their opening night gala. We premiered this piece in 2017 with the Albany Symphony Sinfonietta, Dogs of Desire. Re(new)alwas commissioned by GE Renewables and each of its three movements deals with one of their renewable energy initiatives – hydro, wind, and solar. Viet states in his program note, “Re(new)al is my simple way of celebrating everyone who is working together to create a cleaner, more efficient future for us all.” We are so thrilled to bring this full orchestra version to life. Keep a lookout for more performances this season. You can also check out a performance from last season with KaleidoscopeChamber Orchestra HERE.

Next week we head to Chattanooga to perform on the String Theory concert series at the Hunter Museum of American Art. We’re giving a recital on October 23rd featuring music by Andy Akiho, Victor Caccese, David Crowell, and Steve Reich. Then on October 27, we’ll help to lead an outdoor performance of John Luther Adams’ Inuksuit with a group of percussionists from all over Tennessee.

Thanks for reading, and we hope to see you at a show soon!
