We’ve had quite an exciting start to our fall season! Back in September we played a concert at The DiMenna Center in New York City along with Kettle Corn New Music. We gave two world premieres by composers Alex Weiser, and Thomas Kotcheff. They have just recently posted a series of performance videos from the event.
We have recently returned from Furman University in South Carolina where we gave a masterclass and performed in the beautiful Daniel Recital Hall. Last week we were in Philadelphia teaching Steve Reich’s Drumming to the percussionists at the Curtis Institute as they prepare for a performance with the percussion group, Nexus.
Anxious to get back on the stage, we’re on the road and headed to Baltimore! This Saturday, November 8th we are performing at the EMP Collective. We’re sharing the bill with some incredible musicians, video artists, and dancers including Tim Nohe, Tom Borax, Natalia Panfile and Renée Caroline Brozic. The doors open at 7:30pm and we’re on last at 9:30. Admission is $10 or $7 with a student ID.
The next day, Sunday November 9th, we will stop in Summit, NJ to perform an afternoon of new music at the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey. This show is part of the Doppler Shift exhibition. Through this collaboration we are given the opportunity to experience how music and art compliment each other. We will start the show off at 2pm playing Part 1 of Steve Reich’s Drumming, Jason Treuting’s Extremes and Jonny Allen’s Interlude.
Lastly, on November 18th we are very excited to be the guest performers on So Percussion’s brand new concert series, Brooklyn B(So)und. So Percussion has been a huge inspiration for us over the years, and we are honored to be guest performers at their studio in Brooklyn. We’ll be playing some of our own compositions and a very special world premiere of David Crowell’s Point Reyes arranged for marimba quartet.
That’s all for now, but there’s more to come in December! Maybe another Holiday arrangement in our near future?
