Andy Akiho returned to the Beijing Music Festival for its 27th edition, where he and Sandbox Percussion presented Seven Pillars at the Forbidden City Concert Hall.
The 11-movement work is scored for percussion quartet, with seven ensemble movements and one solo for each member of Sandbox, played without pause. The staging and lighting were developed by Michael McQuilken.
