Aperio, Music of the Americas opened its 2023-2024 season with Andy Akiho's Grammy-nominated Seven Pillars, performed by Sandbox Percussion at the Midtown Arts and Theater Center Houston (MATCH).
The work is structured as a large-scale palindrome of seven ensemble movements and one solo movement for each member of the quartet. Lighting by Michael Joseph McQuilken reinforces the form throughout the performance.
